Land of Equality? I don't freakin' think so.
Donna D'Errico, former Baywatch actress and Playboy Playmate of the Month for September 1995, was recently subjected to a "random" full-body security scan by TSA agents, as told here, here, and elsewhere. She wasn't even given the option of one of their new & "improved," intrusive "pat-downs" before being scanned by one of those controversial new electronic devices.
"Random?" Yeah, right. If Osama bin Laden himself had been behind her in line, he probably would have made it onto the plane safely. Talk about an abuse of power!
It would be perfectly "in character" for me to make all sorts of sleazy jokes here, but I won't.
Ms. D'Errico, as mentioned above, has appeared in Playboy. She's appeared fully nude or scantily-clad more times than I can count. In fact, I had to search a bit to obtain a G-rated photo of her for inclusion in this post!
Next time, guys, head on over to eBay or your local flea market and just pick up a cheap copy of a magazine or two instead of deciding to abuse your authority, okay? Heck, that way, in the privacy of your own homes, you can really enjoy yourselves.
Idiots.
Thanks for your time.
Thanks for your time.
I heard this on fox news last night. hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteSounds fishy. But then, the whole concept is bullshit. I have not one but two artificial hips. I've been going through pat downs & wand scans since 911. I've only had one thorough pat down, @ Logan Airport, and it was ahem, thorough. I was embarrassed, the lady doing it was embarrassed and my underwire bra set off an alarm that made her have to feel under my bra and breasts. Well, I dealt with it but went out and bought what I call my "travel bra" (no wiring) just for air travel. No problems since but I dread the body scan and will opt for the pat down which I already know will be annoying.
ReplyDeleteI don't know...it sounds a wee bit egomaniacal that she just assumes her looks got her the scan. Are the TSA folks only supposed to scan the unattractive people so they don't get accused of lewd behaviour? The selection process always struck me as extremely random...I get picked out about half the time and I'm average on all fronts AND I don't look like a terrorist...that says random to me!
ReplyDeleteA small part of me also feels sorry for the TSA officers in general...I'm sure the majority just want to do a good job and keep planes in the air. They must just love how they're getting smeared in the media every single day.
As far as my feelings go, for the most part I sympathize with the TSA agents who have to enforce these practices and use the intrusive tools they're given. I wouldn't be too thrilled with the idea of frisking people who look like me all day. On the other hand, I'm inclined to think that in this specific case, they may have thought, "Well, at least we can enjoy this one." Who's to say?
ReplyDeleteIdiots is correct. This nation is being turned into a latter day Nazi Germany. Body scans. Body pat-downs. Videos in WalMart asking that people report their friends and neighbors - ok, the video doesn't SAY to report their friends and neighbors, but that's what it ultimately boils down to. Next children will be reporting their parents. And we will all be living in complete fear of every other person we meet. We will fear to do anything out of "normal" - as described by Fox News, of course - or those complete fools Beck and Limbaugh. I wouldn't watch Fox News if you nailed my feet to the floor and taped my eyes open. It's the most anti-American (and I mean that in it's most clear form) bunch of people on the planet. What they are doing to this country is a crime beyond telling.
ReplyDeleteGah! This country no longer resembles anything I've ever known to be America - land of dreams. Now it's just "let's deport all the illegal aliens" and "let's make sure the filthy rich pay no taxes"
Sorry Fox.... this really struck a chord.
...and I forgot to mention that somehow, suddenly, there is a terrorist under every rock, in every closet, in every family. So many terrorists - all out to kill us all - that we have to embarrass young girls in airport security.
ReplyDeleteNo parent who loved her would ever fly with a young girl these days. One person I know has already said her flying days are over as she had two very young daughters and there is no way she would ever subject them to the humiliation and trauma of scanned nude photos or invasive, intimate pat-downs.
We are so hosed in this country. Bin Laden must be LHAO at just how much damage he was able to do to us. Our economy is all but destroyed and our freedoms we have given away as fast as we can hand them off.
Angry here...
But I shall make every effort to return to my own lovely and good-natured self. Even if it kills me.
However, I will not be flying anywhere ever again - unless it is a dire emergency and there is just no other way around it.
@AngelMay: "Sorry Fox.... this really struck a chord." Seriously, no apology necessary. I myself rarely get political on my blog, but that doesn't mean I don't read the news. It's scary how many things happen in other countries that make us say "Well, that could never happen here," although more and more, such is not the case. And as you said, the whole airport security thing is only one of the problems we face nowadays.
ReplyDeleteI never even thought of the possible (probable?) trauma inflicted upon young girls by our new security measures until you mentioned it. Of course, there are those who would say that that and other "unfortunate" repercussions are "worth it," and "better than being blown up in mid-air," but me? I'll stick to walking and driving, I think.
And I just want to repeat that I'm not trying to take anything out on the average TSA agent who's "just doing his/her job." But the Powers That Be, that set all this stuff into place to begin with? That's different.
If that is true, it is so awful. but for her to say it was because she is "hot" which may well be the case, doesn't help matters either. Oh gosh. I wonder is she will sue?
