One Last Stab at Halloween

Okay, fellow babies, here's a Halloween Quickie for you!

Ah, 'tis the season for all parents to go through their kiddies' Halloween loot to make sure there are no poisons, pins, or razor blades (as in the photo at the top of my post) embedded in the candy.

But you know something? I've seen people doing that since the early 1970s, and I think the paranoia is over-blown!

Read here and here, and see if you don't agree, at least a bit!

Okay, gotta run. I wanna post this, and there's someone knocking at my door...

A trick-or-treater? Don't be silly!

See? I told you I wasn't totally unreasonable!

Thanks for your time.

A Zero for Zorro!

  2. "I swear on all that I hold holy that the photo of the woman holding the black cape in front of her looked pretty much like this to me...

However, I was informed that you saw her as a naked woman holding a flimsy, see-through piece of fabric in front of her.

That was totally unintentional, and I seriously apologize."

Did the above sound like a joke?

  3. My dad was a cop, so all of our candy was checked. But with his job, he tended to shelter me and my sisters to an extreme. We couldn't have anything that was unwrapped and no biting into apples, of course.

  4. That fabric is see through? I can't see anything. Jeeze, I feel cheated.

  7. I thought you said the paranoia was overblown! :) And you're probably right...we were just very sheltered in all areas...not just Halloween candy!

  8. @LOLA: I'll bet if you searched long and hard, you could find at least one or two nudie photos on the internet...

  9. @Betsy: In some cases, sure. People talking about all these urban legends and freaking out... But that doesn't mean you should just go blindly though life, never thinking of possible consequences. :)

  11. @Brian: I'll bet some of these "well-meaning" parents just want an excuse to swipe their kids' candy! You're not fooling me, Brian!

  12. My monitor must be shot too...I failed to notice the expose of the lady as well. And the urban legend regarding razor blades, etc....well, unlike SOME parents....I sampled EVERY SINGLE piece in an effort to keep MY child from harm ;) I did have some concerns about combining chocolate and peanut butter, so those completely disappeared.

  15. hahaha I don't think Orlin or Pat found the see through pic offensive.

I never had to fear about bad candy either, I just traded it for other stuff.

  23. I love your work, this is the first, thanks a lot Silver, do you like I call you Silver or David?

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Gloria: People call me all sorts of things around here. David (NOT Dave or Davy), Fox, Foxy, Silver, and a few others. You can get away with any of those. But thanks for asking.

  26. I saw Pat call you Fox, but with him never I know what will happens!

  27. @Gloria: Well, Pat's probably too lazy to use both words in "Silver Fox." (YES, I'm kidding. A lot of his posts are even longer than mine!)

Almost every Wednesday I do a feature about comic books or comic strips called "Comical Wednesday." (There's a link to all of them on my sidebar.) In fact, I'm trying to write one now...
