E: Electro

Here's the latest entry in this year's A-Z Blogging Challenge. My oh-so-specific theme: Golden Age Comic Book Characters with the Same Name As Modern-Day Characters.

Electro first appeared in Timely's Marvel Mystery Comics #4, 1940. Electro is a super-powered robot -- he can run 100 miles, can leap great distances, has super-strength, and is impervious to bullets and cannon-fire! -- created by Professor Philo Zog.

The modern-day Marvel Comics Electro, who first appeared in 1964's Amazing Spider-Man #9, is criminal Max Dillon.

Tomorrow: The letter "F!" Stay tuned!

Thanks for your time.

  1. That's quite a make-over for Elctro from the 40s to the 60s!

    1. Yep. Totally different concept, just the same name.

  2. There have been a few versions of him lately it seems. Knew he had a few incarnations.

  3. It's interesting how art design changes. I realize they're different characters completely, but with the same name, one might think they'd have more similarities. I love the swirls in the background of the modern Electro.

  5. We just got Electro recently on the Marvel Avengers Facebook game. It was the classic costume too, none of the hoodie thing that they had in the recent Spiderman movie... :D

    1. I didn't care for the look of the movie version. I like the version I used here, even though that mask may not be very practical in real life.

  6. Those are such two contrasting images.I like the modern version better because I can catch glimpses of his face.

    1. I suppose the robot version had no face under his helmet.

  7. Good grief! I had no idea about all these superheros (past and present. Dare I say all of them would make a better president than Donald Trump!
