Well, fellow babies, I've found even more photos pertaining to the Li'l General convenience stores I discovered in Florida during a 1973 visit! (Previous posts on this subject can be found here and here.)
The above illustration of a Li'l General store was one I didn't have before. The matchbook pictured below is one that has yet to show up on eBay, so I haven't had the opportunity to add one to my collection.
But here's the prize, something that eclipses even the Li'l General yo-yo I managed to score recently!
The wristwatch shown in the above photo was pointed out to me in the comment section of one of my previous Li'l General posts. It was presented on eBay as a "mystery character" and needless to say, I was highly intrigued. Unfortunately, the minimum bid for the watch was a little bit above what my current budget would allow, so it slipped through my fingers!
I can only hope I see one offered again someday, on eBay or anywhere else.
So much for the update!
So much for the update!
Thanks for your time.
1973? that's just the other day :P
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe to someone as old as I am, but I assume you're much younger than I.
DeleteIt was a good year. It was the year when Elvis's concert was broadcast live via satellite. It was a first!
DeleteLike it was yesterday :(
Were you even alive in 1973, Blue? If so, you must have been a baby.
DeleteSure seems to be a far amount out there. Maybe with your watching a watch shall come back once more.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so!
DeleteToo bad the watch was too expensive because it's almost a too-good-to-be-true find.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Yeah, but it sold for almost one hundred dollars.
DeleteIf you ever tire of Batman, will you become Lil General? :)
ReplyDeleteUhhh, no. Zorro or The Lone Ranger, maybe. Li'l General, no.
DeleteOk.....just checking! :)
Delete.....cuz that hat could get stuck in doorways! Lol
DeleteGood point!
DeleteMoney, money, money... :(
ReplyDeleteThe "It's Not Just About Comic Books and Dead Celebrities" Blog!
I love that! So, let's talk about comics. Ever read THIS one?
No, I haven't. Actually, I haven't been reading new comics since James Robinson's Starman series. And that ended in 2001!
Delete73' lol i been going to the one on dixie hwy and 172nd st. since the mid 60's lol loved that place i miss it
ReplyDeleteI only visited the one near my mom's condo in the summer of '73, but it was a great place to buy comics!
DeleteThere was one on the corner of webber & beneva rd in Sarasota, Florida. Sometime in the early 80's it changed into a Circle K or 7-11, now the building is a Goodwill donation drop off.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see that so many people recall the chain, although I may be the only northerner who was familiar with it!
