Oldies But Goodies

Jiroemon Kimura, 116

Something brief for a change, fellow babies.

Every so often, I'll read an article in the news saying that the oldest man or woman in the world has died. This means, naturally, that a new man or woman -- well, "new" probably isn't the best word, here -- now has that honor.

Being the oldest person on earth is like being the gunslinger with the fastest draw in the Old West. Once you're named the oldest man or woman, it's a title you keep for the rest of your life.

The main difference is that no other "gunslinger" is purposely trying to kill you so that he or she can claim your title.

Well... as far as I know.

Thanks for your time.

P.S. ~~ Jiroemon Kimura passed away on May 12, 2013, less than two weeks after this was posted.

  3. Aw...just look at Mr. Kimura! He's so cute...and doesn't look 116 at all! Wow.

Longevity runs in my family...but more like the 90's and not three digits. But since Pat and I found the Fountain of Youth, maybe we'll dual it out for the oldest in half a century or so! lol....

And hey...116? I keep telling you that you're only half way through your life, don't I?

    1. You're right; he doesn't look a day over 113!

Can't speak for Patrick's longevity, but I've always thought of you as sort of ageless, y'know.

And as far as my being only halfway done... There's a scary thought. :)

    2. I wouldn't want a fountain of youth. Some of us don't want to live to a ripe old age!
