Roger Moore, 1927-2017, R.I.P.

Once again, I seem to have the kiss of death. Only three days ago, I was thinking that I hadn't heard anything from Sir Roger Moore lately (Not personally, of course! I mean in the news, in publicity releases, etc.). I thought, "...and he's got to be getting 'up there' in terms of age..."

Well, just yesterday (Tuesday) I read that he had died after a short bout with cancer, at age eighty-nine. Moore had quite a lengthy career, and was best known for playing James Bond in seven films in the series featuring Ian Fleming's 007. Also in Moore's resume were roles on Maverick, and as Simon Templar on the show The Saint. And if you wanna get technical, he also (very briefly) played Inspector Clouseau in the film Curse of the Pink Panther! Moore was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003!

Thanks for your time.

  4. Oh, I did like him as Bond. I am not sure he was my favorite Bond, but he did do a fantastic job!

I didn't know he was knighted, well now he is in a new kingdom.

    1. He brought a lighter attitude toward the character, I think.

  5. I have had the same thing happen to me although it didn't happen this time. I think he was the perfect Saint and loved him in The Persuaders even though he and Tony Curtis didn't get along

    1. I don't think I ever saw The Persuaders, but I remember an article about that show that began with "Roger Moore, who used to be The Saint, and Tony Curtis, who never was..."

  7. He made a great Bond. Long career, a knighthood, full life. Lots to celebrate. Glad his struggle with cancer was short. RIP.

    1. Yes, when I read that his bout with cancer was relatively brief, I was glad, too.

  8. Maybe you should start thinking of the people we really want to see less of, if you're so gifted in this area.

I liked Roger Moore. I never would have guessed him at eighty-nine! That's a handful of years older than my father-in-law. I guess I tend to freeze people at the age where I watched them the most.

    1. I tend to "freeze" people the same way! Looking at very recent photos of Roger Moore was quite jarring to me.

As far as channeling my "gift," it doesn't work that way. Believe me, I've tried!
